Biografia

Andrea Passarella (Ph.D. 2005) è Direttore di Ricerca del CNR e attuale Direttore dell’Istituto di Informatica e Telematica (IIT) del Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche. Prima di entrare all’IIT ha lavorato presso il Computer Laboratory dell’Università di Cambridge (Regno Unito). Ha pubblicato oltre 250 articoli su social network online e mobili, IA decentralizzata, Next Generation Internet, reti opportunistiche, ad hoc e di sensori, ricevendo il Best Paper Award a IFIP Networking 2011 e IEEE WoWMoM 2013. È stato General Chair di IEEE PerCom 2022. È Associate Editor-in-Chief fondatore della rivista Elsevier Online Social Networks. È coautore del libro “Online Social Networks: Human Cognitive Constraints in Facebook and Twitter Personal Graphs” (Elsevier, 2015) ed è stato Guest Co-Editor di varie special issue su riviste ACM ed Elsevier. È/è stato (co-)PI per il CNR in numerosi progetti di ricerca e innovazione su Human-centric AI, Big Data, FET Proactive, Future Internet.

Andrea Passarella (PhD, 2005) is a Research Director at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) and currently Director of the Institute of Informatics and Telematics (IIT) of the CNR. Before joining IIT, he worked at the Computer Laboratory of the University of Cambridge (UK). He has authored over 250 publications on online and mobile social networks, decentralised AI, the Next Generation Internet, and opportunistic, ad hoc, and sensor networks, receiving the Best Paper Award at IFIP Networking 2011 and IEEE WoWMoM 2013. He served as General Chair of IEEE PerCom 2022. He is the founding Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Elsevier journal Online Social Networks and co-author of the book Online Social Networks: Human Cognitive Constraints in Facebook and Twitter Personal Graphs (Elsevier, 2015). He has also been Guest Co-Editor of several special issues in ACM and Elsevier journals. He is and has been (co-)Principal Investigator for the CNR in numerous research and innovation projects on human-centric AI, Big Data, FET Proactive, and the Future Internet.
